What sorrows have I drunk

to fill the corner of my eyes

swelling with glowing tears.

All moments I have paid

for seeing you

to fill my heart with memories

without fears.

What blindness have I drunk

to darkened the sparks in the sky

exhausted all energy

from new days´ beginnings

which claim the right of insight

over things not meant to be.

What patience have I drunk

that tired my longing for years

while grasses grow yellow

and white flowers, wave nettles

around the stem

I called your name again

and again.

What noble grapes or wine

have I to drink

to let the unhappy dream to an end

to fill the corner of my eyes

with your beautiful image, your sight

restoring the deep belief

of love’s fulfilment.
