Now opens wildly thy gentle heart
now speak thy tongue a milder sound
now make thy eyes a glimpse, a spark
of falling silvery flakes abound.

Now grows thy spirit among the peers
now stand thy lucid brow as honoured
now breaks thy clear stream of tears
drowning dreary maze and corner.

Now follows labour of thy sweet smile
now rise the mountains of thy goodness
now blows thy breath away all vile
forging a crown of love’s fullness.

From now and on the sea will tell
the secret of the thousand winds and waves
of how thy name might sound to spell
while in my heart your memory I save.
